  • tension lingers like cheap cigarette smoke, refusing to settle and coming back with a vengeance at the slightest provocation

    10 August 2021
  • one can only stare at spreadsheets for so long before the grid lines start to appear before your resting eyes

    2 August 2021
  • hiding under blankets as the precious few moments of solitude tick away, despite me

  • Fire Watch Ep. 2 - Day 10

    It’s day 10 and I’m still employed.

    29 July 2021
  • if i were more certain that I had enough money in the bank to ride out the time between now and Labor Day

    i’d quit tomorrow, lol

  • Fire Watch - Ep. 1

In which I set the scene for the days to come.

  • another office edict will be handed down from on high soon.

looks like the as-of-yet unspoken and unwritten Work From Home Rules will finally be “official”

    in an email. as usual.

  • chronicles of the excessively micromanaged, part whatever:

the MicroManager™ has gotten upset that people are just working from home whenever due to the office’s rather lax work from home policy. we are now required to work in the office at least 3 days out of 5.

knew this would come back to bite them eventually.

  • it is #Monday my dudes

    good morning ♥

    12 July 2021
  • watching an Italian woman from Calabria be fed horrid American junk food by her husband just seems like the weirdest television

    but that’s 2021 for you 📺

    11 July 2021
  • it’s good to know that the Emerson Sensi Wi-Fi thermostat sends an email notification if it detects a humidity level above 70%… thankfully it’s down below 50% now >.> 💡

    9 July 2021
  • very grateful to my friends in the HVAC repair professions today

i am no longer sitting in a 94% humidity house after a very courteous 20 min service call

  • an update with the FIBARO KeyFob:

so far it works pretty well with SmartThings, at least while inside the network. i haven’t gone anywhere with it outside the house yet, so that remains to be tested. you can use it to control the status of SmartThings Smart Home Monitor, which is what I wanted to begin with.

just be warned, if you’re planning on using something like this with your SmartThings setup, the manual is quite dense (and doesn’t come in the box; it’s online) 💡

  • i really could just look at pictures of puppies all day long, but unfortunately, work is a thing

    8 July 2021
  • These came in today and they work a treat so far

    7 July 2021
  • looks like the ceiling in the bedroom is doing bad things again.

guess who gets to go up in the attic.

    7 July 2021
  • they definitely didn’t teach me how to make PDF forms in school… maybe they should’ve

definitely didn’t teach me that you have to code your own warning box for the reset button #whoops

    7 July 2021
  • you can definitely tell it’s summertime in Georgia when “Lake Lanier” starts trending on Twitter again

that lake is cursed, don’t go there

  • the three categories of time management: 1. Easy(ish) (maybe) 2. More than a “one and done” 3. Not Today, Satan

    6 July 2021
  • gotta love it when the one who told me I couldn’t have a comp day like the rest of my coworkers doesn’t bother to show up for work themself 👍

    6 July 2021
  • another morning after a night I wish had been longer (so I could sleep more)

    6 July 2021
  • now I am beginning to wonder if i should just take a “comp day” tomorrow despite what my boss says and see what happens

    could be interesting

    5 July 2021
  • i am genuinely shocked that my office decided to be closed today. genuinely.

this, coming from the same office that didn’t take Martin Luther King, Jr. Day off, despite it being a federal holiday (meaning even the banks are closed) until they had finally hired their first – and, as of this writing, last – Black employee.

i don’t think my company’s president understands what “optics” is

    5 July 2021
  • this olympics nonsense is starting to get really ridiculous

i wouldn’t blame anyone for just completely skipping it
